Ducks were the biggest issue for 99 Psycho Clowns driver Jessica Pearse ahead of the Southern 80 on Sunday.
The only female superclass driver said starting in fourth may have been a good thing as the other boats cleared the ducks out of the water.
“There’s always a lot of ducks on the Murray river which isn’t ideal,” she said.
“Mainly because I always slow down to try and avoid them which a lot of the other drivers don’t.
“I get a lot of grief from my team for it,” she laughed.
Joking aside, Pearse admitted she was nervous ahead of the race on Sunday, but said it was all a part of the excitement of the Southern 80.
“It’s sort of the calm before the storm at the start line,” she said.
“Race day is always a bit of a relaxing morning.
“I have a nice sleep in and then joke around with my team on the way to the start line.”
